Green Cars: Hyundai 2020 family car runs on water and sunlight

MIT recently developed technology that could soon end up in cars that could recharge in seconds. But for some designers quick recharging isn’t the only way electric cars could be promoted. Designers like Nicolas Stone believe solar energy is the future and cars manufacturers should sooner or later venture into designs that generate their own fuel with on-board systems.

The designer has come up with a new family car designed for Hyundai dubbed the Hyundai 2020. The small car is aimed toward a family of four people. Inspired by plants, the car generates fuel for itself using nothing more than sunlight and water, the two fuels for plants to carry out their natural processes.

The transparent solar cells that the car is equipped with generates electricity from ambient light and uses it to carry out electrolysis of water, finally generating hydrogen, which fuels the car. The only by-product of the car engine will be clean potable water and breathable oxygen.

The Dark Side:
The overall design of the car looks pleasing and the technology used by Nicholas ensures a pleasant ride. However, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen and then storing hydrogen in an on-board tank seems a complicated and a risky mechanism, not to mention the cost of incorporating this technology in a small car.

  1. hmmm.... the electrolysis process might cost a lot.... not to mention storing the hydrogen gas... which could not be a good idea for a car like that...

  2. Such technology should be introduce to the racing motorsport world, the industry might do more research and develop it to the next level. -Safuan-

  3. BARRIERS TO THE ACCEPTENCE OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES

This is alternative vehicles in the future. But , this type of cars will face a big challenge to immerse and diffuse into the society. This is because company that manages petroleum as a fuel, such as BP and Shell will against of non-petroleum cars because it will affect their businesses. So , from this situation , what can we deduce is that ,self-interest can cause a barriers to the emergences and acceptance to the new technologies.

  4. In this era, we only depend on fuel to move a car. This technology is good for community. It is can reduce usage of petroleum and reduce pollution.
the cost of usage of electric is lower than the cost of petroleum.- faiz

  5. cars with solat system may usually be more beneficial in the sunny day unless its stored the power in batery..this kind of system will also help to save earth from global warming coz it eco friendly.
